The Healing Properties of Calendula

The Healing Properties of Calendula

Did you know that calendula has been shown to have antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties when used either topically or internally! That’s why we work meticulously to grow, dry, and infuse calendula into many of our products; from calming teas to soothing salves and face oil blends. Not to mention, it’s also one of our favorites to grow on the farm for its sheer beauty and bright vibrant color that mimics the sun.

When used in a face oil or a body oil such as our Beach Rose Face Oil or Ocean Mist Body Spray, calendula is proven to help keep your skin hydrated, protected, clear of breakouts, and can accelerate healing and scavenge free radicals! And when used in a salve such as our Wave Salve it can help to soothe rashes or sunburns and hydrate dry cracked skin during these winter months. We even infuse it in our tea blends like our Energy Tea to help to rejuvenate your body from the inside out!

As much as we love to make products – our goal is to empower people to tap into their creativity and curiosity – that’s why we choose to offer whole Calendula Flowers for folks to create their own blends that will help them live their life to the fullest. When you buy our Calendula you are tapping into a cherished plant on our farm. From seed to shelf we make sure our Calendula is grown in rich biodiverse soils that are 100% free of chemical sprays or fertilizers.

To get the wheels turning, here’s one of our favorite and easiest recipes to make a calendula blend at home:

Simply fill an airtight jar or container with your dried calendula petals and pour in an oil such as jojoba or olive oil and be sure to cover the petals by an inch or so, cover and let it sit for 4-6 weeks in a sunny window so the sun and moonlight can aid in the infusion process. When it’s time to put your blend to use, strain the petals from the oil with cheesecloth, squeezing excess oil from the petals, and store the final product in a cool, dark place. In the end you’ll have a soothing blend to keep your skin hydrated all year long.

If you’re looking for a great gift for the wellness enthusiast in your life, calendula is the perfect herb for them!
